Ordering Copies

Hawk & Whippoorwill maintains an inventory of back issue copies. For issues we have in stock, the available for purchase. The price is $7.50 each plus shipping. A price premium may apply for limited-batch art cover variants.

When you write, we will confirm availability and prepare a shipping quote and invoice so that you are paying only the issue cost, the base cost of postage, and any applicable fees or taxes. Within the United States we ship via USPS Media Mail; at the time of this update (March 2026) that rate starts at $4.47. For international orders, we are happy to use whichever postal service you prefer and will quote options on request.

We are broad-minded as to the mode of payment. You can use CashApp, credit or debit card, check, ACH, Venmo, PayPal, and all the rest. If and only if you're an actual bird, we will accept earthworms in trade.

If we happen to be temporarily out of copies of the issue you’re looking for, despair not. We can sometimes produce reprints on demand, for a small additional fee to cover the higher cost of per-piece printing. Take note that each of our back issues is available in PDF on this website.

We don't do advance, ongoing subscriptions though we do accept (and will try to advertise) pre-orders for the next issue. The simplest way to keep track of when a new issue is imminent is to email hawkandwhippoorwill@gmail.com and ask to be added to our mailing list.

Contributors receive two complimentary copies of the issue in which their work appears if they have a domestic mailing address. At present we regret that we cannot guarantee that we can cover the cost of international postage for contributor copies. That said, if we have had a strong fundraising season and have the funds to do those shipments abroad, we would love to get those copies into your hands.

To that point: At the time of placing an order, buyers have the opportunity to add a donation to underwrite the costs of producing Hawk & Whippoorwill. Supporters who choose to donate will be acknowledged, by name if desired, in a future print issue and/or on our social media channels.

Contributors are also welcome to purchase up to four additional copies of their issue at a 35% discount. If you did not request these at the time of publication but would like to obtain them later, simply write to us and we will strive to accommodate you. As with all orders, we will calculate the exact shipping cost and provide an invoice before you make payment.
